I knew it wasn't a good idea to jump on the 'Sack van Gaal' bandwagon.=) Granted, still a long way to go, but I am having the time of my life watching Bayern these days. Once Ribery's at 100%, it'll be even better.<3 All shall fall!

Reaction to Bayern v Mainz
Van Gaal: That was our best home display

Quote:
Louis van Gaal: “That was our best home display so far. I don’t think you can ever beat Mainz easily, their keeper stops everything you throw at his goal. But he finally went and made a mistake in the second half. We created a lot of chances and kept the pressure on their keeper. I thought we were very good in possession against a totally defensive team. I’m very satisfied, because I’ve seen some good goals scored by a very good Bayern team.”

Arjen Robben: “The weather was very poor and took some getting used to. Those were very difficult conditions for good football. At half-time we said to ourselves: we have to stay cool, because we’ll keep making chances. But it was far from easy today.”

Daniel van Buyten: “The really important thing today was to prove we were motivated. We gave it our all, because Mainz aren’t easy to beat. We still have many games to play. Leverkusen have a good team and play some lovely football. It’ll be difficult to finish ahead of them. But we’ll give it everything right to the end, and we’ll see which of us starts dropping points.”

Thomas Tuchel (Mainz coach): “Congratulations to Bayern on a deserved victory and on a great performance, in my opinion. If this Bayern team plays to its potential at home, and if they’re on good form, it’s questionable whether we’d ever come away with anything, even if we rise above ourselves. We didn’t rise above ourselves today, so at the end of the day, we basically never had a chance, and we have to accept that. Without a trace of envy or regret, we can say we’ve deservedly lost to a class team.”

Heinz Müller: “Obviously, Bayern are an exceptionally good attacking team. We rode our luck in the first half, because we gifted them all sorts of chances. Obviously, we were gutted when we went behind to such a soft goal after half-time. It was snowing and I didn’t see the ball properly. There was snow on the ball, and it slipped under my gloves and through my legs. A classic goalkeeping howler.”

It was a great super match.

Defense, Midfield and Forwards were great.
