Injuries cloud build-up to midweek clash

Quote:
Bayern have been hit by a string of injuries to key players ahead of their final home fixture in the Champions League group stage against Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa. Luca Toni is definitely out of the midweek clash with a strain, with Arjen Robben unlikely to feature in the do-or-die encounter. “Robben probably won’t be able to play,“ Louis van Gaal confirmed on Tuesday.

A question-mark remains over Hamit Altintop’s fitness for Wednesday. The Turkey international felt a calf go tight shortly before the Bundesliga fixture against Bayer and had to pull out of the match. “But I hope he’s fit in time for Maccabi,” the Bayern coach remarked.

On the plus side, Edson Braafheid and Danijel Pranjic have returned to contention. Neither of the summer signings from the Dutch first division was able to play a part on Sunday due to flu, but both resumed the squad training programme on Monday.

Long-term absentee Franck Ribéry (patellar tendon) remains unavailable, although the Frenchman was able to go jogging again on Tuesday.

Probable starting line-up:

Butt – Lahm, van Buyten, Demichelis, Badstuber – van Bommel – Tymoshchuk, Schweinsteiger – Müller – Klose, Gomez
(4-4-2 diamond; predicted by ARD & kicker)

It would be incredibly pathetic if we don't achieve to win this game.

Unfortunately, we have to count on Bordeaux to beat Juventus or at least, draw.

If not, here comes Europa League.

Well, that's disappointing. Olic isn't ready to play from the start yet and Toni just got suspended.

We could put Muller up front but Van Gaal would have to put Baumi from the start and I'm pretty sure he ain't going to do that.

Well none of us thought that Baumjohann will get a chance against Leverkusen and he did... I hope he gets it today! Also, if Altintop is fit he will start:

Butt - Lahm, DvB, Demichelis, Badstuber - MvB- Tymo, Schweinsteiger (Altintop) - Baumjohann - Müller, Gomez

Bayern Munich:

Butt - Lahm, Demichelis, Buyten, Badstuber - Bommel - Schweinsteiger - Müller, Pranjic - Gomez, Olic

No Tymo in the line-up, and Robben/Toni/Ribery/Klose are out due to injury.

We are going to miss Tymo tonight... Our players dont tackle Maccabi players and whenever Bommel tackles is a foul. Badstuber and Lahm are trying hard and Pranjic is the most active midfielder so far.

Schweinsteiger is playing good football on the center-midfield position. Olic coming back is a plus definetly and again, no point having Bommel on the squad tonight. His function is to recover balls but then again he hasn't recovered any!

I think I see MvB more up front than Schweini! Its amazing how much we miss Robbery...it would probably be 6-0 by now. Regardless if Bordeux wins... if we cant win this match its better that we bomb out of CL this year otherwise we could be really embarrassed again like last year.
