Robben ready to start at Juventus; Ribery remains sidelined

Quote:
Franck Ribery remains sidelined but Arjen Robben is ready for a place in Bayern Munich's starting 11 for a deciding European Champions League showdown at Juventus Turin on Tuesday.

Munich doctors said on Sunday that the French star Ribery has not fully overcome a knee injury to help his teammates in the duel of ex-champions which Munich must win to make the knockout stages.

But Robben returned from injury to play for almost the full second half in a 2-1 Bundesliga win over Borussia Moenchengladbach.

"I am fit again and ready for Turin. It is an important game and I would like to be a starter," said the Dutchman Robben.

The final saying is with coach Louis van Gaal but right back Philipp Lahm would more than welcome Robben from the kickoff onwards.

"Arjen is very lively, he seeks one-on-one situations and opens spaces. You must field him from the start if he is 100 per cent.

Munich badly missed the creativity from Robben and Ribery in recent games, but three straight wins over the past fortnight have restored morale and self-belief at the four-time European champions who were held 0-0 at home by Juve in their first meeting.

"I am very very confident that we will reach the round of 16," said Lahm. "It would be a good sign and give the team a boost."

Bayern have lost their previous two group matches in Turin in 2004 and 2005, but club president Uli Hoeness is also cautiously optimistic.

"It is possible to win there," said Hoeness.

Probable line-up:

Butt - Lahm, Buyten (Breno), Demichelis, Badstuber - van Bommel, Schweinsteiger - Robben, Müller (Pranjic) - Olic, Gomez

I wonder what would happen if Juve wins......
Will it cost Van Gaal's job?

I like to support the coaches of the teams I am a fan of. Seeing as Bayern are 4 points away from the Bundesliga leaders now, 1 point behind the second team and third team (who play each other next weekend), I really can't see the benefit of a potential sacking. Sure the Champions League situation is not pleasant and it will be a disappointment if Bayern go out, but I'll still stand behind the coach no matter if Bayern beat Juve or not. For now anyway.

So basically, you're pleased on Bayerns performances under the current coach....
Honestly, I dunno how anyone can like this typical non-german style of play, especially considering that Bayern is a german club with german players too. Theres always a benefit when you sack a coach, look last year with Klinsmann and Jupp Heynckes, the team performed well, won games and ended 2nd by a whisker. And When Hitzfeld came back to replace Magath. New ideas and better approach is always recommeneded especially when the team is struggling.

Yeah, basically I am pleased with what's happening now. As far as I'm concerned, things are improving and looking better and better with each match. You think differently, fine, that's OK. As for Bayern playing a 'non-German style of play', as long as Bayern are winning, I'm OK with it however the coach chooses to play, seriously. I don't know... all you can do I think is cross your fingers that Bayern fail big time, lose a bunch of matches and maybe you'll get your new coach. Good luck with that.

Wow...... what a reply ......thanks for answering my suspicion. I never though I would to meet that type of fan, especially from Bayern....

Btw...I dont need to "cross my fingers" and wait that long for the failure to come, you will see soon enough, Van Gaal will be relpaced sooner or later, Bayern will listen to the fans, just like they did against JK.

I didn't like the defenders performance against M'gladbach they should be more solid against Diego and co..

Good news! Spox.de report that Juventus defender Chiellini is injured and will not play tomorow.

Thats great news. Legrotagglie and Cannavaro are not good partners, I guess Muller shouldnt play this match, he wasnt good at all in the last match, Tymos should play instead to improve the midfield problems... I think the best lineup would be: Butt
Lahm DVB Demicheles Badstuber
Tymos
MvB(Muller) Schweini
Robben Olic
Gomez
