We still need a Center back sub ??? Will it be Badstuber returning as CB?? I guess he was better than Demicheles in the CB rule, and Contento may get his chance as a LB, or maybe Gorlitz at right and lahm returns to the left, i dont know wats in Van Gaal's head right now, but i guess there are many options and many choices he should handle... AND HE SHOULD TAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS!!!

Badstuber will keep playing on as LB unless Micho gets an injury. For next season, Bayern will get at least two more fullbacks, one left and another right imo. Badstuber will again be CB and play v Buyten/Micho for a place, Contento and whoever Bayern gets will be the other full back.

Lahm is rightback, so we need another RB to be Lahm's replacement (maybe Contento). In the LB position, we have the LB reserve position for Braafheid, and then we can get another LB for the starter position.

Andreas Görlitz and Christian Lell will no longer play for Bayern, that is clear. Also, Lahm will play as rightback, so why go back to the whole "Lahm is better as LB" disscussion. The statistic show that Lahm is much more efficient as RB.

But yes, this season I think we are a bit thin on defense (as for options is referred).

This season we have (options that van Gaal wuold take into consideration):

GK - Butt / Rensing
CB - Buyten / Micho
LB - Badstuber / Braafheid
RB - Lahm / Altintop

Next season we will have:

GK - Neuer* / Butt
CB - Buyten** / Micho / Badstuber
LB - Kolarov* / Braafheid
RB - Lahm / Contento

* Posible targets.
** Depending on contract renovations.

Just wanted to raise my glass up for the reserves that went to Dubai with the squad. I hope you do well to secure a spot on the 1st team! I love it when our youngsters do well!

Contento played CB, Alaba played CM and Ekici played upfront, alongside Klose, in training in Dubai.

@Filo: Lell and Görlitz turned down several offers from German clubs and from abroad.

I've just found out that Lell takes cares of his sister who suffers from cystic fibrosis. So, that probably explains why he can't just leave the city of Munich overnight. However, Görlitz's contract runs out in six months, so he'll soon leave the club anyway.

Wow. That's really, really sad :/ Poor Lell. Kinda feel guilty for blasting him now. It's a real virtue that he is taking care of her considering some people are capable of leaving their own family starving to death, among other barbaric things.

Could this be a reason for a drop in form?

Remember when Sagnol got injured and he got to be RB and he did pretty solid games. These kinds of things really affect a person's well being, specially if is someone as dearly beloved.

I can understand why Lell turned them down, given his situation (unknown for me). But why did Görlitz turned them down... imo salaries.

It's a shame what happened to Lell, and I feel very sorry for him. I hope his sister recovers quickly. Still, sportingly speaking, he knows he has 0 chance at Bayern and could move to Nürnberg or a club nearby Munich.

It's possible that Lell is hoping to get an offer similar or at least as near as what he got at Bayern for his sister's needs

Gorlitz, no clue though.

Reserve starlets David Alaba, Mehmet Ekici and Diego Contento are strong contenders to make the leap into the professional ranks.

“They’ll train with the senior squad for the whole of the second half of the season,” said Nerlinger.

The three up-and-coming youngsters are currently with the first-team squad at the winter training camp in Dubai.

Bayern needs to offer Contento (German-Italian) or Ekici (German-Turkish) a professional contract in the winter break... cause we are lacking the 12th German player that the DFB statutes demand to all German clubs.

By the way, I forgot that Bayern has another central defender from the reserves who plays very well and may well come back to Bayern next season: Georg Niedermeier who is on a loan in VfB Stuttgart.

Youth product Contento inks professional deal

The 19-year-old defender has inked a deal binding him to FCB until 30 June 2011, and will switch from the reserves to Louis van Gaal’s squad with immediate effect.

The director of sport also announced imminent talks with David Alaba and Mehmet Ekici with a view to securing the youngsters’ future at Bayern.

Anyone is better than Demichelis. If he can develop as Badstuber did as LB, he can make it as Bayern. I just hope he not another Hummels case.

On 30 January 2009 he was loaned to VfB Stuttgart until June 2010.

He has played for Bayern Munich's reserve team since 2003, and has recently been involved with the first team. He was an unused substitute for Bundesliga games against Hamburger SV and Borussia Dortmund in August 2008, and later against Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA Champions League.

I think so, but he was bench. The starters were Badstuber and Saba as CB.

Christian Nerlinger on…

Quote:
…talented youths Diego Contento, Mehmet Ekici and David Alaba: “All three will definitely play in the Bundesliga, but Bayern is something else entirely. But all three are good enough to make it with us. It’s down to mental factors, whether they’re passionate and strong enough to fight for a chance.”
