I think van Gaal is the first coach in many time at Bayern that will definetly give hughe chances to our reserve system. We will get from now on 4 players from the reserves each year (or so) and buy only 2 or 3 players that have are worth buying. No more Karimi's, Hashemian's and co on Bayern.

I don't doubt their abilities, they could play well for Bremen/HSV but they are not Bayern material.

To be fair, I felt Karimi was never given a proper chance. He is a pretty decent player for us to have on the team.

I dunno, Karimi was very good, infact almost all iranians that played in the bundesliga especially for Bayern were good, Hashemian wasnt given a chance too, Mahdavikia was great for HSV and dont forget that we had the legendary Ali Daei from Iran too. Karimi had 2 seasons, under Magath.... Hashemian aswell, while Daei was under Hitzfeld.

Mehmet Scholl: ‘I’ve definitely caught the coaching bug’
Quote:
Interview: Mehmet Scholl
fcbayern.de: Mehmet, the mid-season break ended eight weeks ago, but your team’s only played four times this year. How are you coping?
Scholl: “We’re professionals and have to make the best of the situation. We’re training well, although the artificial surface isn’t ideal. But the end of the winter’s in sight now, and we’ll return to a normal playing rhythm. We’ll be playing twice a week, which could be an advantage, even though we’re not accustomed to it. We can handle it physically. We have young players and they’re all fit.”
fcbayern.de: How could playing twice a week be beneficial?
Scholl: “It’s much more difficult to retain your focus when you’re only playing every two weeks. If you have a game every three days, you’ve no time to think about anything else. It's nothing but football.”
fcbayern.de: How hard has it been keeping up squad morale recently?
Scholl: “We’ve deliberately made every training session competitive. Every session ends with winners and losers. The team has really improved in terms of its response to competitive situations.”
fcbayern.de: Bayern II have managed four games since the winter break, winning three and losing one. Are you happy with that?
Scholl: “Yes, although there are a number of areas where we have to improve. When we attack, we’re still choosing the wrong passing option too often, or my strikers are making the wrong runs. Where we’ve really picked up is in defence. We’re allowing opponents far fewer chances and we’re conceding fewer goals, which obviously improves your chances of winning a match.”
fcbayern.de: David Alaba was a regular for you, but he’s been hitting the headlines for the seniors in recent weeks. Will you be able to recall him for your forthcoming games?
Scholl: “That’s entirely Louis van Gaal’s decision, and I’m flexible about it. Take the last home game as an example: Louis van Gaal told me David Alaba should only play for 45 minutes, so that’s what he did. David is a relatively complete player. All he lacks is experience, but he’s gaining that now. He’s in good hands with Louis van Gaal.”
fcbayern.de: Has Louis van Gaal influenced the development of Mehmet Scholl as a head coach?
Scholl: “I attend senior training once a week, and I keep my ears pricked. The planning, the running order for training sessions, it’s totally professional. I really enjoy watching it all happen.”
fcbayern.de: This summer, you start a course leading to the highest available coaching qualification. Hermann Gerland will replace you as reserve coach on a caretaker basis. Will you still be following FCB II’s progress?
Scholl: “Hermann Gerland and I have a close relationship in any case. I’ll frequently be dropping in at the Säbener Strasse, but I won’t have any influence on the day-to-day running of the team. Maybe I’ll do my internship under Hermann Gerland or Louis van Gaal. When I’m done a year from then, the plan is for me to resume as reserve coach.”
fcbayern.de: Are you looking forward to the course?
Scholl: “It's a shame I have to take a year out now, but the rules are the rules. I’ve definitely caught the coaching bug much more than I thought I would.”

Louis Van Gaal is reportedly keeping a watchful eye on reserves star Christoph Knasmüllner (midfielder, 17 years old).
