Rummenigge on Bayern’s prospects in the Champions League:

Quote:
“Obviously, the Ribérys and Robbens want to win the Champions League, as do we. But we want to hit our targets with orderly finances and in a fair and serious manner – not like the clubs in England, Spain or Italy, who toss around hundreds of millions every year, and then pull rabbits out of a hat to balance the books at the end of the year.“

It will be a draw again, like this time. But after the draw they'll decide as well which team faces which after the quarter-finals. If I'm not mistaken, they do:
QF winner 1 vs QF winner 5
...
and so on.

I wouldn't bet on Bayern, says coach van Gaal

Quote:
Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal said Thursday he would not bet on the German giants winning their first Champions League title since 2001 on the eve of this season's quarter-final draw.

"If I had to bet on the winners of the Champions League, I would not bet on Bayern Munich," said van Gaal, whose side top the Bundesliga.

"I think Barcelona and Manchester are the teams (to beat). Barcelona are the top favourites for me," said van Gaal.

"It would be unbelievable for me, if we were to succeed against teams like these.

"We would need to have some luck and everything would need to go our way."

Bayern's chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge agreed with van Gaal that Bayern are not one of the favourites to win this season's Champions League title.

"We are not one of the favourites to win the Champions League," Rummenigge told Die Welt.

"We are still a little bit away from the top sides.

"But our goal for the next few years is to become stable to close that gap as we can get closer to the other clubs."

I think anyone would have to be blind or never have watched Bayern this year to jump to the conclusion that we even close to being favorites to win CL. Unless we draw Manure, Barca or Inter tomorrow, I think getting into the semis would be considered a very successful season this year. Winning CL is not impossible, just not probable.

Tomas, we can beat Inter mate. I'm sure about that. Barcelona and Manchester, I doubt.

I agree with LvG for once, Bayern arent in the stage that can do a good challange for Europe, it has to be a huge surprise for Bayern do reach that. As for the draw, everyone is a hard team now, I would prefer Arsenal and Lyon and CSKA.
