I wonder how different will Bayern be if we had opted to follow United's path in the coachline aspect. What if Bayern would had given Hitzfeld a life contract and kept him for more than 10 years as Ferguson with Manchester.

The big fucking problem that everyone knows is with the Board. They just can't work out what they want. They want attacking football yet want a defensive approach; they buy players that don't fit into the system that coach, that they bought, wants; they criticize their players and their coaches, but offer no true solutions, just ultimatums and yet say they are standing buy their coach and players. They are full of contradictions. They also talk about coaches of past they should-of would-of kept, except they didn't -- in some vain effort to play like Barca or [fill in the latest hot team]. They used to know what they wanted, but somewhere along the line they all have gone senile.

In the part four of the "Bild" interview, Hoeness revealed that it was his dream to bring Maradona to FC Bayern and they even negotiated with his agent. Beckenbauer revealed that they were also interested in Gullit and Ronaldo, the Brazilian striker.

Uli Hoeness moves on

Quote:
The fact that it will take two people to fill his role says all about Uli Hoeness' rule over three decades as general manager of Germany's number one football club Bayern Munich. When the former Munich winger Hoeness moves on to become Munich president on Friday (pending a vote of approval from the annual members meeting), Christian Nerlinger will be the only person responsible for the sporting aspect while a marketing person will be named next year to fill the void. Franz Beckenbauer is now honorary president. Uli Hoeneß is the new president. Beckenbauer also gets a "good-bye" game against Real Madrid. We will see how this all turns out. I still can't see anybody in the world be a better manager for us than Hoeneß.

Thanks for everything, Uli Hoeneß and Franz Beckenbauer! I think Nerlinger will do a good job, and Im curious to see who will take care of Bayern's financial desitions.

New president
Hoeneß elected Beckenbauer’s successor

Quote:
Uli Hoeneß is the new FC Bayern Munich president. The 57-year-old was elected to the office vacated by Franz Beckenbauer after a 15-year term in the job by an overwhelming majority of more than 99 percent, with 4,458 of the 4,490 votes in favour.

“I’m totally overwhelmed,“ commented Hoeneß, “I promise I’ll do everything in my power to put Bayern back where we all feel the club should be in sporting terms.“

Beckenbauer to get Bayern testimonial 33 years late

Quote:
German football legend Franz Beckenbauer is to be honoured with a belated testimonial match by his former team Bayern Munich, 33 years after his departure.

The 64-year-old Beckenbauer left Bayern in 1977 for the New-York Cosmos, but no farewell match was held to mark his departure.

This oversight will be rectified in August 2010 when Bayern play Real Madrid at the Allianz-Arena, when Beckenbauer will be named honorary captain of the German club.

"His departure in 1977 didn't occur as it should have ... He is without a doubt the personality that has most marked the club," Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said at the club's annual general meeting on Friday.

Beckenbauer played 427 first division matches and scored 60 goals for Bayern between 1964 and 1977.

He won four Bundesliga titles, four German Cup and three European titles with the club. He played in the American league from 1977 to 1980 before joining Hamburg in 1982.

Beckenbauer also won the World Cup with Germany in 1974 and the European championship in 1976.

Klinsmann hits out at Hoeness

Quote:
Former Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann has taken a swipe at the club's new chairman Uli Hoeness, who he believes should have been sacked like he was in April.

Klinsmann was relieved of his duties just 10 months after taking over as coach of Germany's most successful club, but he still feels the decision to make him solely responsible for the club's failings was wrong.

Hoeness, who earlier this month became the club's chairman after three decades as their general manager, should also have been held accountable in Klinsmann's eyes.

"When you have a manager on the bench who has a strong influence on the team, who talks to the players and comes with you into your training camps, and then there is a situation where things are not successful, then both should really say goodbye," he told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper.

Klinsmann recently confirmed that he will never return to the Bundesliga as a coach and this week announced that he and his family are to move back to their former home in the United States of America.

However, should he change his mind and take on another coaching job, then he would prefer not to have somebody like Hoeness watching over him.

"After being sacked by Bayern Munich, Felix Magath decided that he never wanted a manager like him again," explained Klinsmann.

"He prefers to do things by himself and he is being successful, which is understandable."

Let me put this way:

I rather have 100 coaches in 2 years, than to sack Hoeness/Nerlinger from FCB. Hoeness is the soul of Bayern and yeah Magath was succesfull with Wolfsburg but if you compare Hoeness record as manager with Magath's... who wins?

Uli Hoeneß on…

…his new assignment as president: "Franz Beckenbauer's connections gave him completely different options. He brought the World Cup to Germany, he' closely involved with FIFA, UEFA, the DFB. I have none of that. And I'm not going to show up every day. I’ll be there maybe once or twice a week, or more often if I'm needed. If our sponsorship people have an important meeting with Deutsche Telekom or VW, I'll obviously attend, as I want to maintain the contacts I've built up over 30 years. But we need to find the right replacements over the long term. I'm 57 now, and I'm pushing this change through, because I've seen too many mid-size companies where the succession doesn't work out, because the old guys won't let go and the young guys were too lazy. So I believe Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Karl Hopfner – who'll also step down at some point – and I have four or five years to hand Bayern on to the next generation.“

…his successor on the FCB board: "We'll have our man by 30 June. We're talking to a couple of candidates, and also considering an in-house solution. But we’re not yet ready to go public. We have the joint stock company's AGM in mid-January, which will confirm the new supervisory board. We'll get down to the details after that, because the supervisory board has to approve board appointments.“

…Christian Nerlinger: "I'm going to stay out of the way for a couple of weeks or even months. How should Christian Nerlinger grow into the role if I keep jumping in? I think the smart solution is to spend the next few weeks and months leaving him in peace and watching what happens. As a first step, I'm not attending the Dubai training camp, and I'm not going to the pre-match retreats either. I'll join the team on matchdays. It's a complete break, but it's necessary to drive the whole process forward.“

…Jürgen Klinsmann's most recent interview: "I don't understand what Jürgen's up to. Yet again, he's let his people line up a journalist who's prepared to write whatever he wants. There was no self-criticism at all in the interview. In several points, the interview is also clearly in breach of our severance agreement with him. We agreed mutual silence. But despite it all, we're not going to react. I'd urgently advise Jürgen to do the same. For us, that chapter is closed. End of story.“

fcbayern.de: How would you assess your first six months as director of sport?
Christian Nerlinger: “I’d say it’s been very positive. I have far greater responsibilities, and I’m acclimatising to that. Funnily enough, I don’t feel under any extra pressure. It’s due to the way Uli Hoeneß dealt with me from the start. He was always taking me to one side, offering tips and advice, but he never artificially stoked up the pressure by showing off or boasting about all his achievements over the last three decades. Instead, he told me stories about his early years as manager, lots of human interest stories, some of them very funny, and that relieved any pressure.”
