Germany have moved down two places in the FIFA World Ranking.

Last month they've moved down for one place from 2nd to 3rd, and now they're positioned 5th.

Spain has also lost their top spot after many months. Brazil returns back 1st after a 2 year absence.

1 Brazil 1672 (+4)
2 Spain 1590 (-1)
3 Netherlands 1379 (-1)
4 Italy 1229 (0)
5 Germany 1207 (-2)
6 Russia 1161 (+3)
7 England 1135 (-1)
8 Argentina 1091 (-1)
9 France 1082 (-1)
10 Croatia 1031 (-2)

Because we havent played in a couple of months like everyone else. I think our next match is in Aug/Sept. There have only been a handful of NTs that havent played in May and June and we are one of them. Hopefully we will be making points up with our next matches and get back into 2nd or 3rd place.

I heard about that. Sad, indeed.

We missed him at Euro 2008. It was like Germany had no right midfield.

Joachim Loew Rules Out German Recall For Kevin Kuranyi

Quote:
The Bundestrainer’s decision not to consider the Schalke forward for the Nationalelf stands…

German national team trainer Joachim Loew has ruled out recalling Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi to the international set-up despite a spate of injuries to Lukas Podolski, Patrick Helmes and Miroslav Klose.

Lukas Podolski has withdrawn from the squad to face Azerbaijan in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday, while Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrick Helmes is a long-term absentee. Miroslav Klose is also a doubt with the injury which kept him out of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga opener on Saturday.

With Loew now potentially left with just Cacau and Mario Gomez in the forward department, he has however ruled out a recall for Kevin Kuranyi, who scored twice for Schalke at the weekend.

Kuranyi was told his international career was over last October when he walked out on the squad after being omitted from the Germany team to face Russia in a World Cup qualifier.

"I have told him that there will simply be no return for him while I am in charge," Low told ARD television.

"This decision still stands today."

It is believed that Loew may call-up Bayer Leverkusen’s Stefan Kiessling should Miroslav Klose not recover in time.

^ Good, Kevin sucks and so does his attitude. I doubt he will ever be called back after his little episode.

German football federation dismisses Klinsmann speculation

Quote:
The president of Germany's football federation has dismissed speculation that former coach Juergen Klinsmann may return as an adviser to his successor, Joachim Loew.

Germany's Bild daily reported Wednesday, without citing sources, that Klinsmann might be brought back to work with the national team and speculated that he might advise Loew, his former assistant.

However, federation president Theo Zwanziger told Munich's TZ newspaper: "I have heard nothing of the possibility of installing Juergen as an adviser."

"The national coach doesn't need an adviser," Zwanziger added, although he said that Klinsmann, who guided Germany to a third-place finish at the 2006 World Cup, "enjoys the very greatest esteem" at the federation.

National team manager Oliver Bierhoff also rejected talk of a comeback.

"There will be no official collaboration" with Klinsmann, Bierhoff said.

Klinsmann returned to Germany last season to coach Bayern Munich, but was fired in April after a string of disappointing results.

Where did ANY speculation of this come from I wonder? Klinsmann was a good coach for die Nationalelf but what "high esteem" should he have? We got 3rd place. It was a good result but not a great one. If he had gotten us to the finals THEN the "esteem" should be given to him... but not for 3rd place.
