Stuttgart to spend big on Klaas

Quote:
Stuttgart chairman Erwin Staudt has confirmed the club are willing to pay 'extraordinary money' to sign Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

Real have confirmed that negotiations to sell the Holland international to Stuttgart have reached an 'advanced stage'.

Huntelaar has only spent six months in the Spanish capital and the former Ajax ace has been linked with a string of clubs following Real's mega spending this summer.

However, he appears set to link up with Stuttgart after the Bundesliga club confirmed they are prepared to spend big in their quest to replace Mario Gomez.

"Extraordinary players require extraordinary investments as they cost extraordinary money," Staudt told Stuttgarter Zeitung.

"We will not be buying a substitute because we are also developing very good players in our own academy.

"We need a key player, a top-class man for the future.

"Such signatures require time and money, and we are willing to invest time and money into buying this player."

Meanwhile, Staudt expressed his confidence that Stuttgart can persuade Germany international Serdar Tasci to extend his contract, which expires in 12 months' time.

He added: "We are in talks with the management of Serdar.

"Serdar is a Stuttgart player and we are confident he is going to stay a Stuttgart player for quite some time."

Arsenal have reportedly made a late bid to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Real Madrid despite the Dutch striker being on the verge of a move to Bundesliga side Stuttgart.

Stuttgart land Huntelaar

Quote:
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has agreed to join Stuttgart from Real Madrid despite being linked with two Premier League sides, according to reports in Germany.

Arsenal were rumoured to be contemplating a late bid for the striker after the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor to Manchester City but the offer reportedly never came.

Tottenham have also been linked with the 25-year-old for some time but it was said that the North Londoners failed to make a substantial bid.

Stuttgart are keen to replace striker Mario Gomez after his departure to Bayern Munich earlier this summer and it now looks likely that they have secured their man for a reported £20million.

Huntelaar has only been at the Bernabeu six months but following the big money signings of attacking trio Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, the frontman is seen as surplus to requirements.

No decision

The player's advisor Arnold Oosterver refused to confirm the move but did say a decision would be made on Monday.

"There is no decision made actually," he told the Deutsche Presseagentur.

"The only thing for sure at this point is that it will be this Monday when he says yes or no to those offers that are on the table."

Despite his short stay in Spain Huntelaar still possesses an enviable scoring record, with eight goals from 20 appearances.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar stopped negotiations with Stuttgart as he hopes to be able to tie up a move to the Premier League from Real Madrid instead, according to a report.

HA HA -- I am glad Suttgart didn't get him. Who cares about getting top players in the bundesliga, I would rather someone of his quality doesn't strengthen our rivals, we just got through stealing Gomez. I would have rather of seen Huntelaar at Bayern anyway or outside the bundesliga.

^ Nah man. It ain't fun if our rivals aren't good. It wouldn't make sense if we would just run over our opponents every season.

Besides, them getting better and demanding more from us is good. That way, we get sharper when we play in Europe.

Alex Hleb's agent says there are two options for his client: Stuttgart or another Bundesliga club.

The decision will be made in the next 48 hours. According to "AZ", FC Bayern is the other Bundesliga club.

The agent didn't want to comment on that. "You should never rule out anything in football, that's why I won't do that".
