stuttgart was locky with this game. Many barcelona's players got injured, so they

weren't came to Mercedes-Benz arena with their best squad. I like watching cacau. He

played well, and always make barca's defender work hard. If stuttgart want to go to the

quarter final, they must improve their players. They can beat barca if they still play like

this game

Nah... Messi was there, Henry was there, Ibrahimovic was there, Iniesta was there... that would be like saying we showed up to wherever without Ribery, DvB and Klose and then saying that we didnt have our best team there. Not very accurate. Stuttgart didnt get lucky, they played well and deserved the draw. They shut down Barca's attack for the most part. Barca got through a few times but Stuttgarts backline held them off. Jens got unlucky with Ibrahimovic's goal. I got to give Stuttgart props for not parking the bus... they went out and played.

^ They deserved a lot more, really.

2 penalties not called. Imagine. They could have walked away with a 3-1 and defended like hell in Camp Nou, calling the water boys to help out as well.

Besiktas After Stuttgart Midfielder Roberto Hilbert - Report

Quote:
The German midfielder could be on his way to Besiktas...

Turkish powerhouse Besiktas are closely monitoring highly rated Stuttgart midfielder Roberto Hilbert, if a report in German paper Sport Bild is to be believed.

The Istanbul outfit are eager to add to their ranks in the upcoming summer transfer window and they've supposedly targeted Hilbert as one of their primary targets on the transfer market.

Hilbert joined Stuttgart from Greuther Furth in the summer of 2006 and has since made well over 100 appearances for the Schwaben. The 25-year-old has an expiring contract at Stuttgart and will leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

It remains to be seen though whether Hilbert is interested in a Turkish adventure. The German international recently revealed that he'd be keen to stay in the Bundesliga.

Lehmann bows out after 22 years

Quote:
Flamboyant ex-Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann ended his 22-year career on Saturday as he played his final Bundesliga match for Stuttgart in a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim. The 40-year-old ex-Arsenal shot-stopper has hung up his gloves and will be a TV pundit for next month's FIFA World Cup™, having grabbed the headlines here for falling out with fans, team-mates and even ball-boys over the last two years.

This was his 394th German league game and he also played for Schalke 04 (1988-98), AC Milan (1998) and Borussia Dortmund (1998-2003). Lehmann made his debut for Schalke in 1988 and won the 1997 UEFA Cup with the Royal Blues and then the Bundesliga with Dortmund in 2002.

He made his name during five years at Premier League side Arsenal and was notably sent off for fouling Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o after only 18 minutes of the 2006 Champions League final, which Arsenal lost. He won both the FA Cup and the Premier League title with the North London giants.

Lehmann hit the headlines in Germany last October when he scolded a ball-boy at Hanover during Stuttgart's 1-0 defeat at a time when his side were hanging just above the relegation zone. Lehmann asked the boy to return the ball quickly after it went out of play, but when he cheekily threw it over the goalkeeper's out-stretched arms to buy his side more time, the ex-Germany star was enraged.

"What kind of culture is this?" fumed Lehmann after his team's fourth defeat in a row. "I wonder if people want to see these scenes. By faking injuries and pulling stunts like those, Hannover wasted 10 minutes. I find it awful that ballboys are being taught to cheat."

Lehmann won 61 caps for Germany, the last of which came in the Euro 2008 final defeat at the hands of Spain in Vienna, and ousted ex-captain Oliver Kahn from the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ side that finished third.

Stuttgart Midfielder Martin Lanig On Koeln Radar - Report

Quote:
The highly rated midfielder has attracted the interest of Koeln...

Bundesliga outfit Koeln are closely monitoring the situation of highly rated Stuttgart midfielder Martin Lanig, according to a number of reports from Germany.

Koeln are in the market for a new midfielder due to the expected departure of Maniche at the end of the season and the Geissbocke reportedly consider Lanig to be the perfect replacement.

The 25-year-old Lanig joined Stuttgart from Greuther Furth in the summer of 2008 and made a bright start to his career at the Schwaben. However, a knee injury prevented the midfielder from making an impact this term.

Lanig is facing stiff competition for a spot in the starting XI at Stuttgart and could therefore decide to move on in order to relaunch his career elsewhere after his injury problems.

Stuttgart coach Christian Gross recently revealed that Lanig still has a future at the Schwaben, but they could be tempted to cash in on the midfielder if a good offer comes in.

Official: Marc Ziegler To Leave Borussia Dortmund For Stuttgart

Quote:
Stuttgart have secured the services of experienced shot stopper Marc Ziegler...

Ambitious Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have completed the transfer of experienced shot stopper Marc Ziegler from Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee. The 33-year-old has signed a contract until 2013 with the Schwaben.

Stuttgart were in the market for a new glovesman due to the retirement of Jens Lehmann this summer and they had been linked with Ziegler for several weeks.

Ziegler started his professional career at Stuttgart, but the shot stopper left the club in 1999 to get regular first team football elsewhere. He has since played at clubs such as Arminia Bielefeld, Austria Wien and Hannover before joining Dortmund in 2007.

The keeper will have to battle it out with promising youngster Sven Ulreich for the first team spot between the sticks. The 21-year-old Ulreich is expected to start the season as first choice shot stopper.

Official: Stuttgart Sign Martin Harnik From Werder Bremen

Quote:
The young attacker has signed a contract with Stuttgart...

Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have completed the transfer of young attacker Martin Harnik from Werder Bremen for a reported fee of €300,000. The Schwaben have confirmed the transfer on their official website.

Stuttgart were eager to add some more depth to their attack and head coach Christian Gross sees Austrian international Harnik as the perfect addition to his squad.

The 22-year-old attacker started his professional career at Werder Bremen, but never really made an impact at the Hanseaten. They farmed him out on loan to Fortuna Dusseldorf this term, where Harnik impressed with some strong performances.

Schalke, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Hoffenheim were all interested in signing the young attacker, too, but Harnik has now opted to sign a three-year deal with Stuttgart instead.

Stuttgart Keen To Farm Out Young Attacker Julian Schieber On Loan - Report

Quote:
The young forward appears to be on his way out of Stuttgart on a temporary basis...

Young attacker Julian Schieber appears to be on his way out of Stuttgart after the Schwaben have told the hot prospect that they want to farm him out on loan to another Bundesliga side, according to a report in Bild.

Schieber is a product of the Stuttgart youth academy and is considered to be one of the most promising young attackers in Germany. However, the 21-year-old has failed to secure regular first team action since making his debut in 2008-09.

The forward has made 31 Bundesliga appearances so far for Stuttgart, scoring three goals in the process.

The Schwaben are reportedly keen to farm Schieber out on loan and several Bundesliga outfits are eager to add the youngster to their squad in the summer transfer window. Kaiserslautern, Freiburg and Nuernberg are all believed to be interested in signing Schieber on a one-year loan deal.

Official: Stuttgart Sign Cristian Molinaro From Juventus On Permanent Deal

Quote:
The Italian full-back has signed a contract until 2014 with Stuttgart...

Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have completed the transfer of defender Cristian Molinaro from Juventus for an undisclosed fee. The full-back has signed a contract until 2014 with his new club.

Molinaro joined Stuttgart from the Turin side on a six-month loan deal last winter and quickly developed into an important first team member at the Schwaben, prompting Stuttgart to make use of their option to take Molinaro on a permanent contract for a set fee.

"We are very happy that we have been able to bind Cristian to us in the long term. It's certainly not self-explanatory that a player from Juventus should move to the Bundesliga," sporting director Jochen Schneider was quoted as saying on the Stuttgart website.

"Cristian is one of the best left full-backs in the league and he integrated with us here immediately. He was a leader in the latter half of the season and had a part to play in us being the best team through the second half of the campaign."

The 26-year-old Molinaro has so far made 17 league appearances for Stuttgart.

Official: Stuttgart Attacker Julian Schieber Joins Nuernberg On Loan

Quote:
The young forward will ply his trade at Nuernberg next term...

Bundesliga outfit Nuernberg have completed the transfer of young attacker Julian Schieber from Stuttgart. The Germany under-21 star has signed a one-year loan deal at his new club.

Schieber is a product of the Stuttgart youth academy and made his Bundesliga debut in December 2008. The 21-year-old has since failed to secure regular first team football though and will therefore be farmed out on loan to gain valuable first team experience.

"Julian needs to take the next step and continue his development. At Nuernberg, he has the best prerequisites and can gather more Bundesliga experience. In the end, this move benefits all involved," commented Stuttgart's sporting director Jochen Schneider on the move.

Nuernberg finished 16th in the Bundesliga last season and needed a two-legged play-off against Augsburg to stave off relegation to Germany's second tier.

Stuttgart Keen On Augsburg Midfielder Ibrahima Traore

Quote:
According to a report in Stuttgarter Nachrichten, ambitious Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart are considering making a move for young midfielder Ibrahima Traore, currently under contract with Augsburg.

The Schwaben are eager to add some more depth to their squad following the departure of midfielder Roberto Hilbert and head coach Christian Gross supposedly sees Traore as the perfect addition to his squad.

The 22-year-old Traore played at French side Levallois before joining Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2006. He failed to make an impact at the Berlin side though and moved on to Augsburg ahead of the 2009-10 campaign.

Traore quickly developed into a key player at the 2. Bundesliga outfit and his good performances didn't go unnoticed in the rest of Germany. Aside from Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen are also believed to be keeping tabs on Traore.

Stuttgart coach wants to extend contract of Khedira

Quote:
Stuttgart coach Christian Gross has stated his desire to keep Sami Khedira at his club in the short term, and even extend the German international's stay in Swabia.

"I would find it a terrible pity if Sami was to leave us," Gross told German website SPOX.com. "Sami is certainly one of the hottest players in the country.

"It is clear that we should keep Sami, and even extend his contract."

Gross went on to explain Khedira's importance to the team:

"I think that Sami is the central figure. He is, in the team, the central man; around him the future can be built."

Gross did acknowledge that a big offer from the likes of Real Madrid could be too good to refuse. The Spanish giants, as well as English side Chelsea, have been closely linked with Khedira, 23, who has been rated at around €15m.
