Hoeneß on Franck Ribery's extension:

Quote:
Hoeneß does feel the return leg could play a key role in determining Franck Ribéry’s future. “If we get through, play well, Franck has a decent game and comes away thinking there’s a perspective here, we have a reasonable chance of keeping him. If we lose 3-0, I think we’ll have no chance.” However, given his previous record, the ‘worst-case scenario’ seems distinctly unlikely, provided Hoeneß is watching from the stands.

Thats all well enough but if Franck doesnt play to his ability I dont see why we should consider keeping him. This whole season so far has been a complete wash with him. Granted he has been injured a lot but when he is on the field, in most cases, he really doesnt even matter... Franck better put the boots on and play his heart out for the rest of the season!

Hoeness reveals what Ribery said about his contract extension

Quote:
FC Bayern is now back in a good position regarding Franck Ribery. "Last year he really wanted to leave. The origin of the problem last year was the huge amount of problems that FCB had with Jürgen Klinsmann. I'm pretty sure that he had everything settled (agreed) with Real Madrid," said Hoeness. But now the club and the French international had "a very clear chat with each other". The Frenchman had come to Hoeness and said that he will see how Bayern develops until the end of March, mid April, and if he can see that the club has a bright future, mainly if FCB can win the Champions League in this comming years, then Ribery and Bayern would find a solution for him to stay.

What the fuck? Extending his decision, still?

First, in January. Then, first days of March. Now, end of March/beginning of April?

I think it was always until March/April bro. He wants to now if Bayern are CL material or not... and honestly, after the 0-4 debacle last year at Camp Nou... can you blame him?

I think he needs more time, if Bayern make semi-final or more there is a chance. But everyone expects Bayern to beat Fiorentina

More injury concern for Ribery

Quote:
According to L’Equipe, Franck Ribery’s withdrawal from France’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Spain in midweek was not simply due to a tactical decision from Raymond Domenech, but because the talismanic offensive midfielder had complained of a knock.

Ribery has endured an injury plagued season to date, and there is more concern over his fitness after he was taken off after 78 minutes of les Bleus’ ill-fated excursion on Wednesday evening at his own request.

There is no suggestion as to what his problem might be, as the player did not appear to be obviously carrying a problem as Florent Malouda replaced him late on. Equally, there is no indication of how long he will be out for, if at all.

Ribery to decide on future in 'two or three weeks'

Quote:
Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery has declared that he will decide on his future within the next three weeks, mentioning Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea as possible destinations should he opt to leave the Bundesliga giants.

While the 26-year-old playmaker is aware of interest from Spain's top two and from Stamford Bridge, he has revealed that remaining with the Bavarian outfit is still very much a possibility.

"It's not 100 per cent certain that I will go to Real Madrid. Barcelona is also very interested and the same with Chelsea," he told French television TV1.

"This does not mean that I will leave Bayern. I'll decide in two or three weeks."

Ribery is reportedly negotiating with Bayern to extend his current deal which expires in June 2011, according to Sport.

Keeping Ribery, an "absolute priority" for Bayern

Quote:
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has admitted the club will pull out all the stops to convince Franck Ribery to extend his current deal at the Allianz Arena.

The Frenchman is out of contract in 2011, but if he doesn't commit himself to a new deal before the summer he is likely to be sold, as Bayern would risk losing him on a free transfer 12 months later.

"Extending Franck's contract is our absolute priority,'' Rummenigge told the Welt newspaper. "If we had wanted to sell him, we would have had to do that last summer.

"We had some really big offers then, particularly from England. But we all agreed to keep him. We want to have the best players at FC Bayern and Franck is currently one of the best in the world. We won't throw everything into the mixer, but we will throw in a lot to convince Franck to stay in Munich.''

Rummenigge has also told the French winger that his future at Bayern is as much in his own hands as it is the club's.

"We need him because then I think we have a good chance to compete on a par with Europe's top clubs,'' Rummenigge added. "Franck is hungry for success and I don't think a contract extension is purely dependent on the financial side of things.

"It is up to him. We recently told him: 'Franck, it is hard to stop you on the field. You can do things alone and decide things in our favour'. We want to keep hold of him because he is so extraordinary and that would be good for us and the Bundesliga.''

Ribery's future is expected to be resolved by the end of the month, and if Bayern were to qualify for the last eight of the Champions League with at least a draw against Fiorentina tonight it would put them in a more favourable negotiating position.

"Franck would like to become a Bundesliga champion and be successful in Europe and also play a successful role with the France national team,'' Rummenigge said. "I think we can help him and give him the best surroundings for that.''

The importance of Franck Ribéry
by Filo on March 10, 2010

Quote:
There was a point in the current season in which most FC Bayern fans started doubting whether keeping Ribery would actually do the club good or bad. Bayern München was playing terrific football with good communication between all the players and, most important of all, there was no dependency on individual skills. In other words, Bayern Munich passed from being football stars with Bayern jerseys into a football team. Given that situation, can you blame the fans to look into the Ribery saga with new eyes? Comments such as “let him leave to Real Madrid” or “we don’t need Ribery, he isn’t essential to Bayern” were the comments after Bayern started to play good football again. (...)

Bayern still waiting for Ribery to decide future

Quote:
MUNICH, Germany — Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich are still waiting on a decision from French midfielder Franck Ribery as to whether he will extend his contract with the German champions, it was revealed Sunday.

Bayern are eager to hear their star's future plans and should the Frenchman not put pen to paper before the end of the season, they are likely to sell him this summer rather than risk him leaving next year on a free transfer.

"I brought up the subject with him yesterday and asked him where he imagined playing in the future," said Bayern's director of sport Christian Nerlinger with Ribery reported to be worth around 50 million euros.

"He answered that he just wants to concentrate on his football for the next few weeks."

Ribery told French television last week he expected to make a decision on his future in "two to three weeks".

Bayern is the best place for him to play, while Real is struggling to win something and still out of CL, and Barca that are based on their own stars. and there is not any other club in higher class than Bayern

This is getting ridiculous now. As good as Ribery is, the board cannot tolerate this kind of behaviour.
