Alex
Alex On Bayern Munich’s Radar
Quote:
According to a report in "The Daily Mail", English giants Liverpool and German powerhouse Bayern Munich are closely monitoring the situation of Chelsea centre-back Alex.
The strong defender's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2010, and the 27-year-old reportedly wants a longer deal than the two-year extension offered by the Blues.
Bayern are keen to add a world class defender to their squad following the departure of Lucio to Inter back in August, and head coach Louis van Gaal appears to be a keen admirer of Alex.

Which means we probably won't be getting any players from Chelsea including Bosingwa due to the ban, as they would need to keep as many players as possible.

Alex's contract runs out at the end of the season, so Chelsea can either sell him in January or he'll leave for free, seeing as he doesn't want to renew.

Alex would be a great pick up for us. The guy is a solid defender with a pretty decent header in set pieces.

^ completely right BUT Chelsea wouldnt be too smart for selling Alex before his contract is up without getting a replacement. But again, Roman isnt the brightest spoon in the Borsht either.

exactly my point -- Chelsea is going to be very cautious in selling, especially too early.

Roman isn't clever quite ridiculous.
As for Bosingwa you were never going to get him, especially for the price you were offering.
As for Alex he can easily be sold, not that Chelsea want to....but Milan are the fore-runners along with a couple of Spanish clubs being linked.
As for not selling him due to lack of cover, Chelsea have decent cover so while he will be missed, they can cope without him at the back.
He is a great player, physical, gd in the air and surprisingly fast, his last ditch tackles are also brilliant. He kept Torres quiet for a whole game which was impressive.

Of course we werent but thats he we operate. We arent like Chelsea, ManU or Man City... we dont pay overpriced figures for players and never really have.

Almost any of Chelsea's players can "easily be sold". thats not even a point. As far as who is being linked to Alex, I have a hard time trying to remember every player we have been linked to this past summer!

You better hope so. But I dont think they will cope well. It would be like us selling Lahm. Alex is a fixture in your backfield almost as much as Terry is. And as much of a seive as Cech has been, you need all the cover you can get.

As for over priced players...Gomez? There are better players for cheaper. As for Bosingwa trying to get him for less than we bought him for was foolish. Especially when your club comes out and says he is one of the best RB's in the world. You just don't have as much money to spend, because you worry about debt. Having said that you required a loan to buy Robben, so maybe it is that you don't have the cash.

Try buy Drogba, Lampard, Essien or Terry...see how easy that is Alex can be sold easily, because he isn't first team, he doesn't have long on his contract, he wants to leave and he wouldn't be that expensive.

Alex isn't in anyway shape or form our Lahm. Alex is expendable at the end of the day. He doesn't want to stay, from a fans perspective I will be sad but he should get more playing time. He would probably be the best CB in the BL if he came to Bayern. Alex isn't first team. Terry and Carvalho are and Ivanovic is a great replacement. Cech isn't a seive. After his injury he hasn't been commanding in the air...but now he is much better.

God I love that illogical response! He cant be dumb because he is a self made millionaire! Its called luck. Being at the right place at the right time. He should be thanking Ronald Reagan for his wealth since it was Ronnie that instigated Russia's too-quick turn over from communism to capitalism. Roman took money that was given to him and stuck it in the black market at the time when shit was hitting the fan in Russia and the Russian mafia was ramping up. History is filled with uncleaver wealthy people. Besides, I never said Roman was dumb, just not clever... especially about football, but thats another story.

Possibly better players but either none for sale or ones that we would have a lot of problems getting... so "over priced" may not be a definite definition of Gomez... time will tell on that.

Didnt I mention Terry?! Didnt I say "ALMOST all". You're right on Drogba though... you would have a hard time selling him because no club would want him after last season. Unimpressive play, everytime he spoke to the press you never knew if he wanted to stay with Chelsea or leave... I guess it depended on which day of the week it was.

Why are you bringing "loyalty" into the conversation?? I never said Alex wanted to stay at Chelsea, Im talking about his ability to defend. Alex's problem is that there are 1 too many good defenders at Chelsea. But when Carvalho goes down, which he will again and probably for longer, Alex will be in the starting XI again. The problem with our defense is that if Lahm goes down... there is no suitable replacement. We can switch player-positions but we will end up with something similar of a nightmare from Camp Nuovo.
AND... Cech is a seive. He went from one of the best GKs in 1 season to a mess the next. I would say hopefully he gets back to normal this season but that would imply that I care about Chelsea. I dont mean that as a slam against Chelsea its just that I dont really care about any BPL club.

Two things,
First, Gomez is not over priced, he will score more than 30 goals with Bayern these season and he will be a key part of Bayern's future and present success. Over priced is 120M for Ronaldo !
Second, Bayern is one of the BEST TEAMS financially speaking. You should check the "Bayern Finances" thread and it will clear your mind. Abramovich spend WAY TO MUCH money into Chelsea, and created a fantastic team but a team that is currently fucked up in debt due to Abramovich current financial mini-crisis. He had to sell his million-dollar boat right? Also he had to cut-down on stupid expenses such as giving free food on the lunch break to all Chelsea workers including the players.
Why on earth do you think Chelsea didn't made any TOP class signings this semester? Such as Drogba, Sheva or others in the past...

Oh yeah, and you and your 65M offer for Ribery is a good price also... Bosingwa can stay there if he wants, there are better RB than him. Besides, the player wanted to join Bayern, so the problem was that Chelsea wanted Ribery and Bayern said NO, so they thought "let's fuck them and say NO for Bosingwa".

AC Milan? Are you kidding me? That is the same team that sold Kaka (THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD) for 65M which is a riddiculous amount for how much he is really worth. Milan and their administration sucks! They fight till the death for keaping 30-year olds as Gattuso (Bayern went after him in 2008/2009 campaing) and they let their leader, and star leave for that amount...
Real Madrid wants Alex? Doubt it. Barcelona? No chance. Any other La Liga team? We can beat them.

Actually Roman has a few. And they are MULTI-million dollar yachts... like 100 to 300 million dollar range a piece. He hires ex-SAS officers to man all his yachts because Roman is always worried about someone knocking him or his family off. Maybe "paranoia" is a better adjective to use than "clever"? Or perhaps hes a dirty player playing in a dirty market?? Like I said, not all millionaires or billionaires need to be clever... just in the right place at the right time or wanting to run a high risk for high stakes?
