Mate, I just came back from the future. I was sent here from the 5th of November 2014 to tell you that things have drastically changed. Pep is in love with Lahm and decided to play him in midfield. We have signed 4 Spanish players as well as a rather boss of a defender in Benatia. Another cool thing about him is that you can choose between calling him Medhi and Mehdi. How cool is that?? And we got this guy from Poland... You might know him. LEWANDOWSKI. He's pretty badass. Kind of single handedly thrashed Real Madrid once.

Also, Pep doesn't seem to like the 4-2-3-1 formation. He prefers 3-4-3 and 3-3-3-1 for some reason. Strange thing huh?

I know this might come as a shock to you. I know... I would have had the same reaction if someone from the future came back to the 23rd of April 2013 to tell me all this.

Oh, and Dante turns to shit, mate. Yeah, I know. Bummer. Shit happens.

      Back to the DeLorean!

      Spoiler
PS I know this was a personal opinion. I just found it funny because it really seems like you came from the Gotze announcement and decided the best XI based on that.

Greetings friends of the future. I guess I am more old school than you guys. I believe that simple football is the best football. Football after all, is a simple game for complicated people.

While I do admire Pep for implementing this fluid and attacking 343/3331 formation to the team, sometimes I wonder what the team could have achieved if Jupp never left Bayern and persisted with the standard 4-2-3-1. 2013 was a dream come true for me as a Bayern fan so sometimes I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic towards that all-conquering team.

My biggest concern this season is that we might have peaked too early and could struggle to maintain the momentum towards April, when the biggest games will be played. The two stand-out games under the new Pep regime so far were the 3-1 away at City and the recent 7-1 away at Roma. Both games were in October unfortunately. The gulf in quality between Bayern and the rest of the BL is so high that it almost works against them when it comes to the CL. The total collapse of BVB this year certainly won't help in that regard. When you win the league so early and so effortlessly, it is extremely difficult to keep the momentum going and stay match sharp in the CL.

I hope Pep will figure out a masterplan to deal with the strongest teams in the CL. This 343 formation leaves lots of gaps down the wings for the other team to exploit and BVB has shone that last week. Teams like Chelsea and Real are ruthless on the counterattack and Pep will have to come up with a counter-counter plan. The biggest problem for Bayern is of course dealing with counterattacks so being able to counter a counterattack is the most important.

Haven't seen enough of Benatia but I don't think he is that much better than Dante. He gives away too many fouls. Maybe he is better in a 3-man defence, but I would pick Dante if we played a standard 4-man defence.

I actually agree with everything you said here and I understand where you are coming from. I do hope Pep's tactics will come to the fore when it is needed most and I do hope he has learned much from his first season. 4-2-3-1 is my favourite formation and I hope Pep can use it somehow because I don't think any other formation fits the player roles better than those at Bayern.

At the moment everything is going well and it is nice to have some variation in options.

We haven't reached our peak yet mate!
Pep himself has already stated that this will happen February onwards!
The 1-7 vs Roma was just a good game we had with also much luck with almost every shoot getting in goal.
Also, no one can really know what Pep has in mind, but I'm sure that he's been working hard at how to face Madrid since the very night we lost 0-4 in Munich.
The sure thing is that this year we have a big variety in formations using in many games 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and 3-3-3-1 alongside with the 3-4-3 which I personally belive will be our main formation when all our stars will be back again.

Welcome to BZ and have a nice staying....
                Enjoy

                • Ough and one more thing.
Doing the treble with one team (like Jupp did) is surely a great achievement.

But doing the treble for the second time coaching a team that has already done it only 2 years before is something bigger that has never been done before

                  • We are playing much better than last year wit Pep.
We can say that we are struggling with some of issues about defending the counter attack, corners and injurys.
We don't have first 11 and fixed tactic and line up (but we don't need that, fluid tactic is new tika-taka

All that been said - now we can only grow and reach our peak in 2015, because we have so much space to improve our game...
hope that we get there and fuck up RM in final off CL... dream that day...

                      • For this season, the best formation IMO is 3-4-3:

                        Neuer / Benatia - Boateng - Alaba / Lahm - Alonso - Bastian - Bernat / Robben - Lewa - Ribery

                        • Man City dominated us in the first leg when we started with the 3-4-3. We had to change to 4-3-3 during the match to regain control

I don't see why you guys are so excited about the 3-4-3. I don't see the point in wasting a spot in the lineup for an extra CB.

A game where every Bayern player aren't still fit because of World Cup ?

Remember next game against Hambourg : our player were burn !

And in my own opinion, if I like this 3-4-3 (with Alaba) it's not about the system. It's because, like I show 3 messages before, we can change in 4-3-3 in 4 seconds !

                            • We'll see how good it is when we face world class opponents in the CL. BuLi doesn't really provide a measuring stick as the majority of opponents are so weak that none of their players would even sit in our bench..

Besides, it's not juat tge formations that win the matches.. it's also many other factors, like little tactics, like set pieces (remember Ramos' goals against us from corner kicks), many times it's the hunger and desires of the players as individuals and as a team, sometimes it's the better team cohesion (something we're not good at this year because half the team has been out for months), sometimes a combination of a few details.

                              Sometimes luck.

As for individual quality, a few teams match us out there. So it will be down to a combination of factors.

                              • What would be your ideal 11 when everyone's back? who would you omit from the team that played the first half and how better would it make Bayern (except maybe for the obvious omission of Rafinha)?

I mean, when players like Thiago, Alaba, Lahm and Javi are back, some of Alonso, Schweini, Gotze, Muller or Bernat etc will have to be sidelined, right?

How better or worse do you think that will make us, and would there be time for those players to get used to the way we play as a team compared to the ones already playing it for months?
