Bayern Munich call on FIFA to insure international players against injury

Bayern Munich chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wants the world football federation, FIFA, and its European counterpart, UEFA, to reach into their pockets and provide insurance against injuries sustained by players while representing their countries.

"We are in discussion," Rummenigge said in an interview published in Munich newspapers on Tuesday. "And it would appear that UEFA is showing a readiness to insure all European clubs against such problems. And that's not just during major competitions, but for every international fixture."

Coach urges French players to learn national anthem

France coach Laurent Blanc is making sure all his players will be singing the national anthem before a 2012 European Championship qualifier against Belarus on Friday, to show they really care about playing for their country.

Blanc is so concerned that some of his younger players actually may not actually know how to sing "La Marseillaise" that he has been handing out sheets with the lyrics on.

"I have personally encouraged the players to sing the Marseillaise because I was practically certain some of them didn’t know the words," Blanc said on Thursday. "I think they will know the words to sing it now, but everyone’s free to do what they want. They know my way of thinking, though: if you know the national anthem of your country it’s preferable to sing it."

France’s reputation is at an all-time low following its World Cup training strike fiasco and Blanc knows that the team has to get back to winning ways very soon.

"I don’t have many opportunities to sing it. I admit I don’t sing it under the shower," Blanc added. "But when you are representing your country — and God knows when you play for the national team you are — it’s a pleasure to sing it."

France defender Bakary Sagna would accept it if the fans boo the team.

"I would totally understand. I know they would like us to set a good example," Sagna said. "They would like to see us win. We’ve forgotten what victory’s all about, and we have the chance to do it."

France is now 21st in the FIFA world rankings, lower than Australia and the United States even though neither of those countries perceives football as its major sport.

"It’s bizarre. In my opinion, it’s easier for a player to play in the France team because there are better players, better pitches, better infrastructure," Saha said. "We have to get back in the top 10, bring a new dynamic to France."

          Best Selling Club Football Shirts

A report was released by German company PR-marketing.de about the state of football sales for the world’s top football brands, Nike and Adidas. Some interesting findings from the report showed that despite sponsoring different clubs, the two brands sell similar numbers of football shirts around the world, at least in their top five clubs sponsored.

Here is the comparison between Nike and Adidas and their top selling five shirts. Funny enough, the report estimates that they sold about the same amounts of shirts in their top 5.

Bayern Munchen sells much more shirts than the top Italian sides.

              German soccer fans arrested

More than 200 German football hooligans were arrested here after clashing with police in the wake of Germany's 1-0 win over Belgium in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday night.

The arrests were made mainly in downtown Brussels, where fans without tickets clashed with police before and during the game. Many were later released.

It's a real shame to see this, but it happens. Some people just take it to serious and use their support for their team as an excuse to cause damage. It happens everywhere, I have seen cities in riots. Football is a passion no doubt, but never an excuse to cause damage.

                Under-17 Women's World Cup: DFB-selection outclassed Mexico 9:0

The German women's team crushed Mexico 9:0 in the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad & Tobago. Lotze Lena (Bayern Munich) scored twice, Kristin Demann (Turbine Potsdam) once. The most successful Germans were, Kyra Malinowski of SG Essen-Schönebeck and Lena Petermann of Hamburg SV. Both players achieved three goals.

The Central American opponents of the DFB-selection were hopelessly inferior. 60:40 percent ball possession and shots on goal for Germany 33:1 speak for themselves.

In the final two group games Germany take on South Africa (September 8, 2010, 22.00 clock), and South Korea (September 12, 2010, 21.00 clock). FIFA.com transfers all parts of the U17 World Cup live. The comments are in English.

Michel Platini Unimpressed By Serie A Clubs' Spending & Warns Them To Retrench

UEFA president Michel Platini will not tail off from his pursuit to force clubs into spending less as he reminds Serie A clubs to curb their financial sluice.

Platini will introduce new rules from 2012 onwards in which clubs will have to operate within the financial fair play guidelines set out by the governing body.

And the former Juventus ace has reminded clubs to pull the handbrake in what he describes as "prudent management".

"This is the proof that makes it necessary to intervene rapidly," Platini told La Gazzetta dello Sport after they published a report which showed Serie A's wage bill could break the €1 billion barrier.

"Clubs must start to act with more discipline. You break even with more prudent management by reducing costs, developing new management strategies where possible, and increasing revenues. From 2012 clubs can only spend what they earn."

And Platini says UEFA will not be acting lightly with clubs facing punitive action if they don't adhere to the new laws.

"They will be subjected to the rigorous verifications of the Club Financial Control panel presided over by Jean Luc Dehaene and they will incur the risk of being sanctioned.

"The Bundesliga is the only league that regularly breaks even. This is the proof that a rigorous management of costs, and in particular of wages, will allow clubs to respect the new criteria of financial fair play.

"The clubs who spend too much today must intervene quickly and in a rigorous way if they don’t want to find themselves in difficulty when the new rules come into vigour."

If anyone is even remotely interested I would like to inform you that Breiðablik has won the Icelandic championship after a goalless draw against my team, Stjarnan. Their first title but they have a fantastic youth program so it was about time for them.

Just a little FYI for those interested.

True, but even an idiot like him can clearly notice that there r several issues within Serie A.

"This is the proof that makes it necessary to intervene rapidly," Platini told La Gazzetta dello Sport after they published a report which showed Serie A's wage bill could break the €1 billion barrier.

FIFA Transfer Matching System Becomes Mandatory For All International Transfers

As of October 1, 2010, the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) must be used for all international football transfers. TMS is an online system that is supposed to make international transfers quicker, smoother and more transparent.

"This is a historic moment for football," said FIFA president Sepp Blatter on the official FIFA website. "TMS is a relatively simple online system but it will have a tremendous impact on the international transfer of players. Thanks to TMS, football’s authorities have more details available on each and every transfer

"The most important thing is that it increases the transparency of individual transactions and helps us to tackle issues such as the fight against money laundering and the protection of minors in transfers."

TMS general manager Mark Goddard added: "It's no longer a good idea to play a game of chicken in the negotiations for transfers.

"Over the last two-and-half years we have seen examples of big clubs like Real Madrid who last year came out very early in the transfer market and did their business in the first two weeks of the window.

"They avoided leaving it until the last minute as they didn't want to risk playing a game of chicken with a computer system which would say time has run out."

The two clubs involved in a transfer have to enter the same information in TMS, otherwise the transfer will be blocked and the member association cannot issue the International Transfer Certificate.

Overall, more than 30 details on each transfer have to be entered, such as information on the player, club details, all payments including the amount, timing and bank details, and solidarity payments to previous clubs.
