All of these guys are Iranians (Persians), not Arabs. Huge difference.

Actually, Haschemian is an Armenian name, although everything I can find about him says that he's simply Iranian. Probably has some Armenian ancestry.

A lot of Armenians live in/are from Iran son that's probably it.

Yeah I figured, but usually I see them calling themselves (and see them called by others) "Iranians of Armenian decent." I didn't see anything about that with Haschemian, although admittedly I didn't look very hard. You're almost certainly correct, of course.

Yeah, I hate bringing up race/ethnicity because it really doesn't matter and tends to invite a whole lot of unwanted conversations (and comparisons), but I can't help but be happy when I see a person from an ethnicity never represented in Bayern who has made it this far. Super happy for him!

Also, if you can forgive a greedy aside, I wonder if he'll make Bayern more popular in the Arab markets worldwide?

i think it will, especially in north africa.
but i think after BeIN bought the right to broadcast the bundesliga from dubai sport the exposure in the whole region to bayern and the bundesliga will be much bigger and in 2-3 years the bayern fans will increase exponentially.
but until bayern get/has a superstar player(messi/ronaldo level of stardom) it won't reach the level of fanbase madrid or barcelona have around the world.
