Αs long as we play with Thiago as #6 the 4-3-3 is a very offensive formation.
What you're saying goes whenever Javi or Roca is our #6.

Anyway, my belief is that this formation problem 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 was permanent because of Muller.
Muller "collapsed" since Euro 2016 and he should have already been sold.
There is no need to try to suit Muller one way or another in any formation, or not use the proper formation just for Muller to suit in.

This very moment the best formation for the players we already have is 4-3-3
and the best 11 are these:

Coman Lewa Gnabry

Goretzka Toliso
Thiago

Lucas Sule Pavard Kimmich

Neuer

....It's crystal clear

Muller can be ok as a squad player. The problem he makes too much and will probably start talking(or his wife will do that) if he is benched three games in a row. The guy is DONE, he is slow and not a winger while in the middle he is far too attacking and looks akward losing many balls, Gnabry right now is so much better than muller as a RW and SS. The problem is we need another winger or two. If we buy two players like Sane+Odoi(or someone similar) Muller will be slowly fazed out especially if Havertz comes next season.

That's exactly what I'm saying!
He couldn't stay as a squad player that's why he should have been sold.
And now, I don't see any offers coming for him!

I'm a real fence-sitter on Muller and haven't quite made up my mind about him, but he was very good last season. It's harder to be critical of him when he was so important for our success. I feel that your argument was stronger before last season, but that doesn't mean that you are wrong.

4-3-3

Neuer
Kimmich - Süle - Lucas - Alaba
Tolisso - Thiago - Sanches
Gnabry - Lewandowski - Sané

4-2-3-1

Neuer
Pavard - Süle - Lucas - Alaba
Kimmich - Thiago
Coman - Gnabry - Sané
Lewandowski

Considering Sané deal is done, i don't think we'll spend anymore. I'm one of those who aren't backing up for Kimmich playing in midfield but do we have anyone who is able to cover #6 position like Thiago? I don't think so. Maybe Tolisso, but it would take some time. I think both setups look dangerous enough.

I don't mind to see Javi in the #6 position too but he's damn too prone to injuries and not really constant in his game.

I think Kimmich isn´t good enough in midfield but I agree that both setups looks able to compete.

I know Niko said he wants to play 4-3-3 .. but it's not necessary to stick to it if it's not working.
I mean our squad is versatile enough to play any formation. So we could still use 4-2-3-1

Anyone can cover the #6 like Thiago.
Esp. the way he did vs Dortmund....

Mark my words, with those kind of #6 we'll be ruined in Bernabeu, Turin S.I.P and Camp Nou especially.
Javi can't save our asses anymore!

But not everyone can cover the #6 Thiago against Real Madrid

One way or another, I think everyone can agree that Thiago needs a competitor in the squad. He's the only one we have who does what he does.

Which game do you mean.....the recent one, the friendly.

Anyway, I' don't intend to down grade Thiago as a player.
My point is that there are specific games agains strong counter attacking teams that we must use a Kante-type player in-six.
Or else, withe the kind of high line defence we use, we'll get fucked hard.

I'm not against at using Thiago as #6 in most home games!

That's my point!

What about the time we played Real in the champions league and Thiago completely dominated Reals midfield right up until Vidal got red carded?

Mate come on, I don't want to argue anymore about Thiago.
I think i made my point clear

But anyway since you brought it up, you do realise that you're talking about one big game for a player that's been playing in Munich for 6 seasons?

What about both games against Porto? Arsenal? Winning goal against Juventus? Real Madrid? Sevilla? Dortmund? Do any of those count as big games because he sure as well as incredibly important in all of them

Do you count Porto, Sevilla as big games.
Do you remember what a ghost he has been vs Madrid at the previous seasons.
Dortmund?
You mean last Saturday?

Come on mate, stop this conversation...please.
You won't convience me and neither will I.

Still i repeat that my point isn't to value Thiago as a player.
Are you telling me that in all these games you mentioned he played as a #6?

I was specific in my arguement.

Ok I'll leave it but one last point; yes, I absolutely do count Porto and Sevilla as big games. They were Champions league knock out games, surely the pinnacle of important games in club football?
