I kind of wanted Hleb at Bayern, he would have been a good attacking midfield resource.

Stuttgart will have a great team next season, I'm confident they can at least reach the CL last eight.

Stuttgart Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann Announces Retirement

Quote:
The shot stopper will end his playing career after this season...
Controversial German shot stopper Jens Lehmann has announced his retirement. The 39-year-old will hang up his gloves at the end of the 2009-10 campaign.

The 61-times capped German international started his professional career at Schalke'04 in 1989 and made more than 250 league appearances at the Gelsenkirchen side.

After ten years at his beloved Schalke, Lehmann opted to move abroad and signed for Milan. Nevertheless, he failed to impress at the Italian giants and returned to Germany only six months later.

The experienced goalkeeper found back his best form at Borussia Dortmund and earned himself a transfer to Arsenal in 2003 after a number of impressive performances at BVB.

Lehmann developed in to an important first team member at Arsenal and made more than 100 league appearances for the London side before eventually losing his spot in the starting XI to Manuel Almunia.

He joined Stuttgart in the summer of 2008 and has already had his fair share of attention at the Schwaben following a number of controversial actions.

BABBEL WORRIED BY STUTTGART FORM

Quote:
Markus Babbel admits he is facing the "toughest situation" of his short coaching career after his Stuttgart side collapsed to a 2-0 home defeat against bottom-of-the-table Cologne.

Fans inside the Mercedes-Benz Arena jeered Stuttgart off the field following the result which meant they dropped to 14th in the Bundesliga, just days after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Rangers in the Champions League.

Babbel admitted he and his side had hit rock bottom with yesterday's setback.

"We don't seem prepared to go that last inch," he said. "For me as a coach, this is my toughest situation so far."

The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich defender's coaching career is only 10 months old, but this is certainly the lowest ebb and he believes major changes are now required.

"We have got to just take a step back from our aims and get back to the basics," he said.

"We need to return to our values, which we are missing at the moment."

Yeah, that's true, but I think Lehmann's blunder against Köln fueled the ban.
